Circumcision Reposted

This is *some* of what I had on Facebook under My page's "Notes" - and Facebook made it disappear. So here it is reprinted.

The Foreskin is an important Organ of the body, and a vital part of the Immune system.  Just as the eyelid protects the eye, the foreskin protects the glans. The foreskin also maintains optimal warmth, pH balance, and cleanliness. The glans itself contains no sebaceous glands – glands that produce the moisturizing oil that our skin needs to stay healthy.The foreskin produces the oil that keeps the surface of the glans soft and healthy.

Circumcision is not simply the cutting off of useless skin. Author Gary L. Harryman ennumerates what circumcision destroys:

***Its connective synechia, which fuses the foreskin to the glans during development.

***Approximately half of the smooth muscle sheath called the dartos fascia.

***Most of the erotogenic nerve endings 

***Specialized epithelial Langerhans cells, a component of the immune system.

***Thousands of coiled fine-touch receptors, including the Meissner's corpuscles.

***Estrogen receptors--the purpose and value of which are not yet fully understood.

***Ectopic sebaceous glands, which lubricate and moisturize.

***The protective covering of the glans, normally an internal structure. The foreskin shields from abrasion, drying, and callusing, and protects from dirt and other contaminants.

***The entire immunological defense system of the soft mucosa, which may produce antibacterial and antiviral proteins such as lysozyme, also found in mother's milk, and plasma cells, which secrete immunoglobulin antibodies.

***Lymphatic vessels, the loss of which interrupts the lymph flow within a part of the body's immune system.

***The frenulum, the sensitive "V" shaped tethering structure on the underside of the glans is also usually amputated, severed, or destroyed.

***The apocrine glands, which produce pheromones, nature's powerful, silent, invisible signals to potential partners.

***As much as 50% or more of the total penile skin, radically immobilizing and desensitizing whatever skin remains.

***The "gliding" mechanism. If unfolded and spread out flat, the average adult foreskin would measure 15-20 square inches, the size of a postcard. This abundance of specialized, self-lubricating skin allows the ability to smoothly "glide" back and forth within itself, permitting non-abrasive intercourse, without drying out the vagina.

***The pink to red to dark purple natural coloration of the glans.

***10% to 20% of its circumference because its double-layered wrapping of loose foreskin is now missing.

*** As much as one inch of erection length due to scarring and shrinkage from loss of the foreskin.

***Several feet of blood vessels, including the frenular artery and branches of the dorsal artery, the loss of which interrupts normal blood flow to the shaft and glan, damaging its natural function and possibly stunting its growth.

*** An estimated 240 feet of microscopic nerves, including branches of the dorsal nerve.

*** Perhaps most importantly, between at least 10,000 to 20,000 specialized erotogenic nerve endings of various types, which can discern slight motion, subtle changes in temperature, and fine gradations in texture.

*** And occasionally a boy will lose his life from this needless operation. It has been estimated that as many as between 100-150 babies die EVERY year from circumcision and related complications.

Please share this list with others, especially anyone who says the foreskin is a useless piece of skin or that circumcision is no big deal. The Foreskin is a vital ORGAN and an important part of immune system. Many men, after reading this list and researching, are greatly saddened by the realization of what they have lost. Milah: Symbolic Circumcision of CovenantThe original Biblical circumcision of Abraham's time was a relatively minor ritual circumcision procedure in which only the redundant end of the foreskin extending beyond the tip of the glans was removed. This was called "Milah". It is from this term that the Jewish Religious Covenant circumcision ritual Bris Milah or Brith Milah got its name.

Following "Milah", a penis so circumcised would still contain a considerable portion of the foreskin and the penis would have continued to go through its natural development since most of the foreskin would have remained intact. Protection of the glans would still have occurred. The foreskin would not be stripped back off the glans and would naturally separate from the glans gradually as the child matures, much as it would had the child not been circumcised. The sensitive frenulum would not have been disturbed or moved, and the foreskin remaining would continue to cover and protect a substantial portion of the glans, especially when flaccid, and the glans would appear as uncircumcised. There would be minimal loss of sensitivity or intended protection.

This type circumcision continued throughout the ages and during the time of Christ. The circumcision of Christ would have been this type circumcision as referred to in the bible. Indeed, biblical reference to circumcision is strictly this form of circumcision. It continued into the New Testament. It has been argued that Michelangelo's David should show David as Circumcised. Interestingly, Michelangelo presented David precisely as he should have appeared following an infant "Milah" circumcision. His glans is essentially covered with only the tip of the glans showing.

Changes to the Ritual Circumcision Procedure:No other feature was added to the religious ritual until about 140 AD when a second step to the ritual circumcision procedure was introduced.

Periah: The laying bare of the glansAfter performing "milah", the cutting back of the end of the infant's foreskin, a second step, periah was then performed. Periah consists of tearing and stripping back the remaining inner mucosal lining of the foreskin from the glans and then, by use of a sharp finger nail or implement, removing all of the inner mucosal tissue, including the excising and removal of the frenulum from the underside of the glans. The objective was to insure that no part of the remaining penile skin would rest against the glans corona. If any shreds of the mucosal foreskin tissue remained, or rejoined to the underside of the glans, the child was to be re-circumcised.

This is a much more radical form of circumcision. It was dictated by man, and is not the biblical commanded circumcision rite.  Its introduction has a bizarre history. The rabbinate sought to put an end to the practice of youths desiring to appear uncircumcised by stretching the remainding foreskin for social economic benefits and for sports competitions. By introducing the painful and debilitating "Periah" they would obliterate the foreskin completely such that proper circumcised Jew could not disguise "the seal of the covenant". From this point in Jewish history, the male's glans is directly affected by the circumcision procedure, and the denuded glans and traumatized infant will heal with considerable nerve damage and loss of sensitivity. Again, it is important to note that this is not the Covenant circumcision of Abraham defined in the Bible. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I used to be so pro-old school. Still have about 10 bookcases with books double deep. But since i started my website Ever Naturally, I have about 2000 natural health reference based (usually $12.99-$24.99 print books) plus another 500 or so fiction books (also usually have print versions too) plus another 500 various books on various subjects. Sharing Essential Oils with Friends

Another way to go to try essential oils is to buy a few drops from a friend or an aromatherapist (+some money for her trouble) and put in a roller bottle or spray bottle with fractionated coconut oil. In the past, I have had no money for oils, but I found that I can have a few blends this way and that was the only way I could afford them. This way everyone wins and paying it forward, etc. 
I find a rollerball with 6-10 drops of oil will last us about a month, even longer if its not an often used blend. For those who want to share the joy of essential oils with their friends - tell em - you buy the roller balls and fractionated oil - and I'll give you a few drops for each one. Its good too for sharing blends and trying blends that one person has and the other does not (bartering). Sharing the LOVE of essential oils.......

Proper Dilution of oils:
2-6 drops in a rollerbottle full of coconut oil for kids
10-30 drops in a rollerbottle full of coconut oil for adults

Anything more is  wasteful (and who wants that?) and can lead to oil sensitivity.

Modesty Travails

I'm more of a "let a girl wear whatever she feels comfortable wearing" kind of gal. same goes for breastfeeding cover/no cover. basically, that no one should force a woman to wear anything that she doesn't feel comfortable or not herself in. And so much of what is discussed too has major exceptions to every rule. Fingertip length is a ridiculous standard, as some girls have short arms, and some girls have very long arms. Some girls are so curvy that no matter what they wear they look luscious. ( http://imdb.to/1rkspdV ) Every double D girl knows that a shirt that completely covers the boobs make them look twice as big. Modesty is like this perfect twiggy type stereotype that is never really achieved. And so many men have so many different fetishes that it is ridiculous to try to do anything about that.A girl/woman should basically be confident enough in what she is wearing so that she is NOT thinking about whatever other people are thinking about what she is wearing. Cause that's a rabbit hole that never ends.Sure there are horrible predator type men out there - lots of them - but should we insist on letting the bad guys win? of allowing them to dictate to women what they should or should not wear? its a slippery slope.And of course, the opinion of modesty in accordance to dress is legalism in any which way you put it. The modesty verses in the Bible are specifically talking about ostentatiousness. In other words, don't walk by the beggar on the way to church in a 2 thousand dollar suit and 5 thousand dollar purse and then look the other way. And the specific verses of Paul about jewelry and such are specifically talking about the prostitutes of the temples of goddesses who "men go to worship" - in other words, to show that Christianity is not the same religion as the others at the time. Anyway, this is just a subject that I have been delving into the last couple of years as it was brought to my attention. As far as schools go though I'm all for letting them all wear the same uniform (both boys and girls) with no dresses allowed. Why should girls get to wear dresses if boys don't? Makes no sense to me. And yes, I've taught in schools with uniforms and without uniforms, and hands down, uniform is better. Enough research shows that. Its one of the reasons why I homeschool - schools are all for making everyone think, look, and act the same. School is their job. Many jobs require a type of uniform dress. Might as well dress the part. Nothing to do with sexual modesty though (school girl uniforms are the utmost in sexual ideas) - except more to do with the ostentatiousness of modesty. harder to wear abercrombie if you are in uniform.

Gershoff (2008, 2002) examined hundreds of studies and presented the results of meta-analyses of the association between parental physical punishment and child and adult outcomes. She found that in childhood physical punishment was positively associated with aggression, delinquent and antisocial behavior, and being the victim of physical abuse; it was negatively associated with the quality of the parent-child relationship, mental health, and more internalization (child's internalizing of socially acceptable behavior); and associations with immediate compliance were mixed. When measured in adulthood, physical punishment was positively associated with aggression, criminal and antisocial behavior, and adult abuse of one's own child or spouse; physical punishment was negatively associated with mental health.

Gershoff (2008, 2002) also summarized the various demographic and risk factors which are more likely to be associated with use of physical punishment: being single, separated, or divorced; excessive stress from negative life events; maternal depression; lower income, education, and job status; southern part of the United States; and conservative religious beliefs and affiliation.

Bitensky (2006) presented a detailed summary of the international findings regarding physical punishment. She also described the various efforts made by the United Nations to prevent physical punishment.

Durrant and Ensom (2012) have provided an eloquent historical review and summary of recent research. In addition, they outlined the steps necessary to continue the progress toward eliminating physical punishment.
